About OPUS RS

OPUS RSE is the world leader in vehicle emissions remote sensing and the only entity globally accredited to measure real-world emissions remotely. As a Spanish company, it designs and manufactures its own sensing technology, the Remote Sensing Device (RSD), capable of detecting CO, CO₂, NOx, HC, NH₃, and PM emissions as vehicles pass by.

This technology provides authorities with accurate data on actual traffic emissions, allowing them to develop fairer and more effective policies instead of relying on generalized traffic regulations. The system identifies high emitters—a small fraction of vehicles (around 1%) that can generate up to 40% of total road emissions, polluting 200 times more than others. These vehicles, regardless of type or age, can only be detected through on-road measurement.

“What is not measured, cannot be improved.”

With precise, real-world data, the RSD enables targeted action based on actual pollution levels. Its versatility allows integration with other sensors and ITS systems, creating continuous monitoring solutions that enhance mobility and air quality.
